I would like to update my mySQL server to the latest release 5.7.16. And you can always do a search on El Capitan. I am a developer and I run mysql 5.6.26 Community Edition on my MacBook which is running OSX El Capitan. Apple will probably have a banner at the top promoting El Capitan, but if you don’t see one, you can probably find it in the Free section in the far right column (you might have to scroll down to see it). I have not upgraded to El Captain instead, I have done a complete clean reinstall.
